About me
StreamStats BC is a new province-wide application for British Columbia that enables users to rapidly produce high resolution watershed summaries upstream from a point of interest. StreamStats BC was inspired from the USGS StreamStats tool and related point and click map-based watershed statistics and summary applications. However, unlike many related applications, StreamStats BC is centered around a vectorized representation of the streamline network. This enables details to be provided at the level of an individual stream reach. StreamStats BC contains dozens of useful outputs from regional basin-wide regression equations predicting stream geometry, flood frequency, water temperature and watershed characteristics. StreamStats BC is available as a publicly accessible and user-friendly map interface. The tool allows users to produce detailed summaries for a point of interest or visualize individual metrics across a larger region. In this presentation I will showcase StreamStats BC. I will also explain how I was able to leverage the following emerging technologies to produce the application by integrating igraph, R-Plumber API and Mapbox GL-JS.
